getting files from server to run locally RRS feed

    Hi guys,

I am fairly new to ASP.NET and just recently acquired a job where the previous developer was gone when I started.  Needless to say there wasn't any documentation whatsoever on the process of his applications, where the solution files were located etc.

Working with the MIS group we have gotten the freshest files from the server and put them into Vault(uncompiled).  My question is how can I get these files to run locally on my machine for testing before putting them back into Vault and publishing them live?

What is the best way to do this?

    1. Run it locally on my machine in my local install of IIS?

    2. Open the site from source control and running it locally in the development server(something going on with the paths for stylesheets/images there)

I'm having a heck of a time just getting it to run correctly.  Any direction would be awesome(documentation or otherwise)

I think option 2 is better. You can open the site from source control, do the testing and changes needed and then you can check in the changes back to source control.
