Populate Multiple Fields From One Selection in a Lookup Table RRS feed

  • Question

  • My office is currently working on transferring our quoting process into PWA, and one of the larger stumbling blocks we've come across is entering contact and billing information for repeat clients. It's time consuming and an avenue for error to manual transcribe the information each time a repeat client comes up, and we would like to automate the process? Is it possible to populate multiple fields of data on a PDP based on the selection in a single field? For instance, selecting 'Acme Inc' as the client would populate a field for Contact, Address, Billing Information, etc.

  • Hi Kevin,

    It would be custom development.

A workaround, but not really suitable if you have a lot of clients, would be to use MS project templates and project types (EPT). You can create a template associated with an EPT for each customer. You pre-fill client information in the template (MPT) custom fields and when the user will create a new project choosing a template, all information will already be filled.

Note that you can use department fields to cascade custom fields, but it is unfortunately not about values but only custom fields.

    Hope this helps,
