Xperfview ( Analyzer) v4.6.7231 fails to launch as unelevated process RRS feed

    Process Explorer - Xperfview Integrity Level

    as you can see even though I clicked on yes to make xperf launch as unelevated process (Medium Integrity) it still launches as elevated (High Integrity) And yeah I am using v4.6, check the screenshoot below - got this version from Windows 7 SDK downloaded yesterday.

  • Hi Smulpuru,

    Just because the processes are high integrity doesn't mean they are "elevated".  Check out the security tab of each xperfview.exe process in Process Explorer.

  • You were right, I checked the security tab, the child process of xperf has Administrators Deny Flag. but why didn't it lower the integrity level?

  • A number of privileges are also removed from the token.


    How the Integrity Mechanism Is Implemented in Windows Vista would seem to apply (though in the context of Vista, it would also seem to apply at least loosely to 7), and would also seem to discuss about UAC and integrity levels.  Also some discussion here ...
