How to remove disk write protection on Windows CE 6.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I have Windows CE 6.0 on the multimedia screen device in my car.

after accessing windows, there are three disks: A,A2,A3.

I'm trying to replace some image files on disk A and A2 but they seem to be write protected, It says "Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not in use"

    The file is not "read-only"
Disks are not full, but the file could be in use, anyway, when copying/deleting files on that disk then restarting the car engine, everything comes back as it was, like it's frozen.
I can copy any file to the disk A3 only.
The device has only one USB port which reads only flash disks (not keyboards or mouses)

So, how can i solve this problem?

  • We don't know.  Your car OEM does, and they aren't going to tell you.

If I were to guess, the disks are in ROM.  ROM disks often are RAM backed so that changes show like you described, but on reboot are gone.  But that is only a guess, I don't know anything about what the OEM set up on the infotainment system in your car.
