The user does not have permission to perform this action error 297 for Data Transformation Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Server 2003 Standard x64 SP2, running SQL 2008 Standard SP2 (10.0.4). Having an issue where a few users are trying to connect to the DTS (Data Transformation Services) & they're getting the following error:

The user does not have permission to perform this action error 297

For the users I've set them up in the MSDB, for the Database Role DB_DTSADMIN w/ SELECT granted and confirmed that 2 of 4 users can access DTS, while the other 2 cannot. Not really seeing much in the security logs, but I could be mistaken, where or what should I check next? Thanks for your help.

  • How do they run DTS? via EM /SSMS?

  • I don't understand your question, they run/access the packages directly from the management studio from within the database engine on the SQL server instance.

  • Uri,

They're accessing this SQL DTS via SSMS remotely, but I don't see why the link you listed is relevant as they do not use commerce server and there is no DTSimport role in MSDB. What they're trying to do is view, & if needed, execute against DTS packages.
