  • How do you go back with the backbutton? I finally found out you had to handle the back button pressed event from the system and that it isn't embedded anymore but I have a problem. It now closes the new page and closes the app even though I can see the OnnavigatedTo method ran in the old window. Have you had a similar problem?

  • Ok, I figured it out. I placed the backpressed handler in both the navigated to page and the main page and they both capture the event so it's application wide. Therefore I just left it in the main page. What I had to do though was, even after a frame back, make sure it was handled. I guess it gets bubbled all the way up to somewhere in the application to close it down. I'm not sure but adding e.Handled = true; worked.

     void HardwareButtons_BackPressed(object sender, Windows.Phone.UI.Input.BackPressedEventArgs e)
            {
                if (Frame.CanGoBack)
                {
                    Frame.GoBack();
                    e.Handled = true; //I had to add this here
                }

            }
