Logging in Windows Apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know System.Diagnostics.EventLog is not available in Windows Apps. How about tracing, listeners, and all diagnostic framework that used to be bread-and-butter in .NET? Is it also not available?

I just need to keep a record of exceptions thrown in the App. Right now, I'm writing exception information to a text file in the LocalFolder. I'm wondering if there are any more elegant ways of logging error messages offered by Windows Runtime.

  • There isn't anything built in for that. You will need to build your own log-to-file system or find a 3rd party implementation.
