Launch a commandline utillity(desktop application) from Metro app RRS feed

  • Hi,

    When try to use a Metro application as a server to a Desktop application.
    I could not able connect to Metro server from desktop application.

    In MSDN forum one question is answered like its not possible to connect
    to Metro Server from desktop application.

    So i have written a commandline utillity(Desktop application) as server
    But i want to launch this from my Metro Application.

    Is there any way to do this.

    Any sample code really helps.

    Metro style apps cannot directly launch other executables.

    They can user the Launcher class to launch documents (e.g. foo.txt) or protocols (e.g. http://microsoft.com) in the default handler for that file or protocol type, but they cannot directly run specific applications.

    There is no supported IPC between Metro style apps and Desktop applications. Using the Metro style app as a server for a Desktop application is not a supported scenario. You would need to either use a desktop application for both the server and the client or move the server to a network. Which is best will depend on your specific needs.
