Upload data to a data source with Bing Spatial Data Services, 2.0 ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to upload a csv with this Form

    https://www.bingmapsportal.com/UploadDataSet/CreateUploadView

It works with "Bing Spatial Data Services, 1.0, FourthCoffeeShops" as recommended here

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg650600.aspx

But it won't work with the format "Bing Spatial Data Services, 2.0" proposed here

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj735477.aspx

Is the Upload Form only compatible with 1.0?

Id like to try if i get better geocoding results using the generic query with 1 concatenated search string "GeocodeRequest/Query" instead of the exact search terms AddressLine(Edm.String),Locality(Edm.String),PostalCode(Edm.String),CountryRegion(Edm.String), because some of my addresses have bad PostalCode.

  • The Bing Spatial Data Services currently only has version 1.0. There is no version 2.0 for data sources. Note the version is for the data schema and not for versioning your data.

  • I don't believe so. If you are using the API's rather than the Bing Maps portal you have a lot more flexibility. That said, a query is parsed and broken into a structured address like you are passing in, so this shouldn't make a difference. Make sure your addresses don't contain information like PO Boxes, or flat/apartment numbers. If they do then create a different column to store that information and don't use it in the AddressLine column.

  • Is there a way to use one concatenated search string Query  instead of seperate AddressLine, Locality, PostalCode, CountryRegion in version 1.0?

Some of my Addresses have wrong PostalCode or AddressLine so I get no Geocode Result.

Using one search string might give better results.
