Can I get a list of hotfixes that have not yet been included in a Servicepack? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been asked to compile a list of hotfixes not yet included in a Servicepack.
This concerns .Net frameworks  up and including 3.5SP1, VS2005 and VS2008.

Where can this information be found?

  • Hi ALJ Kraak,

    Welcome to MSDN forums.

    Some clarification with you:
Do you mean that you want to get one list of hotfixes that are not included in .NET Framework Service Packs and Visual Studio Service Packs?

To be honest, after some search on the Internet, it seems that there is no official document that directly lists these hotfixes on official website. Sorry for inconvenience.

However, I found one helpful blog that is aware of the hotfixes and hot issue information.
    http://blogs.technet.com/hot/default.aspx
This blog reports the latest hotfixes and related KBs of Microsoft products weekly. We can "Search" almost all recent .NET Framework and Visual Studio related hotfixes in the blog.
For the third party website, here is also one useful website that list all the hotfixes of .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5.
    Please refer to: http://kbupdate.info/
We can search for ".NET Framework" to find the list.

Secondly, we can check the hotfixes that are included in .NET Framework or Visual Studio Service Packs like:
    .NET Framework
Problems that are fixed in the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945757
Problems that are fixed in the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945826
List of changes and fixed issues in the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951847
    Visual Studio
List of bugs that are fixed in Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918526
Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 release notes and a list of fixed issues
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945140

Then we can know which hotfixes are not included in .NET Framework or Visual Studio Service Packs.

Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

    Best regards,
    Yichun Chen

  • Yichun,

It was very helpfull. Especially the hotblog is interesting to keep checking.  http://blogs.technet.com/hot/default.aspx
We only get the security patches distributed from our central IT department. And Windows Update is blocked.
So we have to check which updates(hotfixes) we have to install manually.

    Thanks very much.
