Not clear about meaning of "BUCKET_ID:  WINCE_ANALYSIS_DISABLED" message in dump.

Apart from enabling dump from catalog, I have enabled dump generation from registry.

    (HKEY_Local_Machine\System\ErrorReporting\DumpSettings)

Still we are not getting any stacktrace in Windbg, is it because of "WINCE_ANALYSIS_DISABLED"?

If yes , how to enable it. also are there any additional settings which needs to be enabled.

    Need advice for same.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Lokesh Kumar

  • Is your WINCE tree fully updated? I know there has been an update fixing WEC2013 Dr. Watson dumps in the past.

  • Hi Michel ,

    Thanks for replying.

We have WINCE update up-to December 2017

We tried September 2019 updates, but we were having filesystem compatibility issues on OS Upgrade.

So we dropped those updates. we are not sure whether it contains Dr. Watson dumps fixes or not.

  • Strange, you shouldn't have any compatibility issues after installing updates. Can you elaborate?

I had a quick look but I can't find in exactly which update the Watson fix was. I recommend installing all the latest updates and try again.

  • Hi Michel,

Thanks for suggestion. We are now trying September 2019 update for dump.

Regarding applying update, we faced issue after upgrading WEC NK.nb0 on our target devices.

    Our upgrade procedure:

    1. Replace Nk.nb0 at a specific location in filesystem. (At root folder)

                   - This Filesystem location is our boot location from where E-Boot loads kernel image.

    2. Save some specific registry settings in xml

    3. Hard Reboot

    4.  Booting now with upgraded OS image

    5.  Restore registry settings from xml to registry

Above procedure has been working without any issue When we upgrade our NK.nb0 (keeping windows update version same)

But if we upgrade image with new updates (September 2019), then sometime, we face random IO errors while accessing directories and files.

These issues do not appear in case we format eMMC and flash kernel image from fresh.

    Best Regards,

    Lokesh Kumar

  • Wow, the time from power up to CE desktop must take ages using this approach of loading the flat NK.nb0 from the file-system...

Nothing has changed in the file-system components that should cause any issues like that. It still sounds very strange (and scary) to me. If I were you, I would get to the absolute bottom of that. It may uncover some scary bugs in your BSP...
