warning CS0114 in Typed DataSet - "hides inherited member" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a typed dataset (xsd) that contains a data table named "Site".

Unfortunately, this hides the inherited "Site" property from the System.Data.DataSet.

I'd use the new keyword in any other instance, but the fact that the dataset is generated obviously gives me pause.

Has anyone hit this issue? What is the best way to solve this?

    -Thx

Answers

  • There are some names that it is best not to use for tables because they are properties of the DataSet object.  This is one of them.

If possible, change the name of this table in your database.

If this is not possible, change the name of the table in the DataSet.  It is possible to configure which table a data adapter fills through its TableMappings property.  Therefore, the table in the database and in the DataSet do not need to have identical names.
