    Hi sandeep89ms,

For migration, I suggest you refer link below:

    #Migrate from ASP.NET to ASP.NET Core 2.0

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/migration/proper-to-2x/?view=aspnetcore-2.1

For areas, it also supported in .NET Core MVC.

    #Areas in ASP.NET Core

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/mvc/controllers/areas?view=aspnetcore-2.1

    Best Regards,

    Edward

Actually what he/she meant with areas were layers/tiers.

The external projects need to be converted to .net standard or .net core class lib projects. As the project file structure is different, it’s easier to create new projects and add the files.

Then resolve any nuget packages ( they must support .net standard or core)
Then fix any unsupported api calls
Then fix configuration file issues. (No web.config support)

Currently .net core libraries are a little confusing. The default is .net standard, but as .net standard is not being carried forward in the future (it just for sharIng code between classic and core projects, and will not support new .net core features or compilers).
