  • OK, first things first.

Silverlight is deprecated. It's in end of life cycle support at the moment.

You should know that very few businesses want new Silverlight work doing. You would probably do better learning asp.net mvc, HTML5 and javascript frameworks if you want to work in browser.

WPF for Line of Business apps.

Universal Windows Apps for windows phone and some other ( quite frankly niche requirements).

Did you follow the links I posted?

    The Silverlight toolkit is here:

    https://silverlight.codeplex.com/releases/view/78435

    Download and install the msi.

Create a new Silverlight app if you don't have an empty one to hand.

Then follow the step by step instructions here:

    http://weblogs.asp.net/lduveau/dynamically-apply-and-change-theme-with-the-silverlight-toolkit

    .

In order to properly understand what a theme does you need to understand how xaml controls work.

    They are lookless.

By which I mean the control defines a behaviour. So a button has a click and an itemscontrol holds items.

How they look is defined by a template.

    A default template.

You can replace them in several ways.

Once of which is... a theme.

You probably  won't really have understood lookless and it's implications.

    Take a look at this:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/29866.aspx

download the wpf application ( wpf and Silverlight are both xaml ).

    Run it.

Mouse over and around the buttons and see what happens.

    Hope that helps.
