Azure Storage Import/Export

    Question

  • Good day!

We are planning to send hard drives with our data to Azure. We read on a documentation that external hard drives are not supported.

"External hard disk drives that come with an in built USB adaptor are not supported by this service."

Please help us confirm if this is correct and we need to use 3.5 inch SATA II/III internal hard drives only.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Mark,

    Thanks for posting here.

As you mentioned External hard drives are not supported.

External hard disk drives that come with an in built USB adaptor are not supported by this service. Please do not prepare an external HDD. The disk inside the external casing also cannot be used for importing data. Use a 3.5" SATA II/III internal hard disk drive. If you cannot connect the SATA disk directly to your machine, use an external SATA to USB adaptor. See the list of recommended adaptors in FAQ section.

    Hope this helps you.
