Kerberos Test - Kerbtray.exe - http.sys RRS feed

  • Question

  • I use Kerbtray.exe to check for proper Kerberos setup on a client.  In this case, I have a SSRS 2008 instance on a Windows Server 2008 machine.  I have Kerberos set up for this instance.  I also have an SSRS 2005 instance on the same Windows Server 2008 machine.  When I use Kerbtray to look at the tickets, I see the tickets properly shown on the SSRS 2005 instance (these instances use IIS).  When I use Kerbtray to look at the tickets from the SSRS 2008 (it uses http.sys) instance, it doesn't show any tickets.  It looks like there are Kerberos log ins on the actual machine under Security events.

    Does Kerbtray.exe work on Windows Server 2008 instances when it uses http.sys instead of IIS?

    Solved Kerberos Issue with “No Network Credentials” by changing the following in the RSReportServer.config file for the SSRS2008 instances only.

                    <AuthenticationTypes>
                            <!--<RSWindowsNegotiate/>-->
                            <RSWindowsNegotiate/>
                            <RSWindowsNTLM/>
                    </AuthenticationTypes>

    Someone commented out RSWindowsNegotiate.

    When this line was added back in, Kerbtray acted as expected.  In other words, Kerbtray acts the same for IIS or http.sys.
