Migrating from SQL 2008 Express to SQL 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Morning all,

I've made the mistake of building a sharepoint 2010 sever and selecting the Stand alone installation.  Realising the errors of my ways I've setup another sp 2010 server as a farm, with SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise, but have no idea how to get the info from the stand alone server.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Dear mpjubb,

You have three solutions for this.

1- Install SharePoint as standalone, then upgrade the database instance "<Your SQL Server>\SHAREPOINT" to SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition.

2- If you already now have SharePoint with farm installation, you can import your databases from "<Your SQL Server>\SHAREPOINT" to your SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition, I mean of import is restore from backup or attach/deattach database.

3- Also you can backup the farm or site or any part from SharePoint standalone and restore it or part from it through SharePoint farm installation.
