SQL storage of emojis RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have emojis in text comments stored in my database as nchar(500) - this shows a black and white version of the emoji.

It also shows when I connect to powerbi in query editor.

However, when I do any visualisations they don't show?  How can I fix this please?

  • Hi,

These specific characters are stored in particular format or as unicode characters. Assuming that you are using the AS 2016 you can utilize the UNICHAR(Refer Link#1) dax function.

Hope this Helps!!!! Regards, Note: Please Mark As Answered if you satisfy with Reply.

  • Yes but that only works for the emoji character on it own. Bear in mind that the emoji is in a text sentence/phrase and should still be shown within it's context. Therefore this is not a solution unfortunately.  I have seen it done so that the emojis show in PowerBI in a sentence but not sure how they have done it.
