Specifying a minimum sized device an app will work on

    Question

  • Hello,

    I'm in the process of designing our windows store app for W8.1 and WP8.1

    The app is a simple but specialized drawing app that uses base images and templates for the drawings which the users then draw over.

    The minimum size base image is 600x300 width x height and we'd like to keep it that way across all devices and not get into scaling and/or rotating if we can get away with it.

    Running the prototype in the various phone simulators (where it all fits the screen) seems to work just fine.
    W8 does not have a device-size problem but poses a min-width dilemma.

    Question(s):

    Although we'd be ostracizing some users with small devices, is it OK to specify a minimum phone size? like a 5" screen size.
    Will that get through app approval?

    The 500px minimum width and split screen mode does not work for us and we're considering a fixed size or scale to fit approach. Will that get through app approval?

    Answers, guidance and explanations please... I have read the Guidelines for supporting multiple screen sizes.

    Thanks
