How to Consume a Strongly Typed Dataset in Microsoft Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • My question is how to consume a dataset in Microsoft Access.

    I've got a WebService method that returns a dataset.

    I've added a web service reference to My Access application which developed a new module/class "clsws_Service1"

    In my report.  (where I want to be able to retreive/display) from the retrieved info). I want to be able to ennumerate results

    In psuedo code, the following is what I am trying to do...  Keep in mind the DataSet has multiple tables.  I can change WebService to return a row instead.

    dim document as string

    document = "123456"

    dim ws as new clsws_service1

    dim mydata as ?????  (Intellescence shows that this is an MSXML2.IXMLDOMNodeList)

    mydata = ws.GetData(document)  < Get an error

    ' Once I get here I think I can figure it out

    me![Order_Date] = mydata("Orders")("OrderDate")

  • 1.  State the exact error.  Just saying "I get an error here" does us no good!

    2.  Does the Webserivce's method require any parameters?  What are they?  I ask because you are passing in "123456" as  a string, but is THAT what it is asking for?  Maybe it wants something else (integer, date, etc..)???
