2008 R2 - High CPU when emptying recycling bin RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have server 2008 R2 server running on VM ESXi 4.1.0. Server has 4 GB ram and Intel XEON 2.53 GB processor.

Each  time I delete file larger then 2GB from recycle bin, the CPU will maxed out. I've used Process Explorer and identify that svchost.exe was the culprit.

I dig deeper as because there's plenty of more services running under a specific svchost and located lanman server chewing at it.

This server is our profile server and constantly we need to delete some unwanted data which is huge. Is this normal and how to tackle this?

  • I'm having the exact same issue. I'm not sure if it's related, but it seams to have started after the last round of Windows updates. Let me know if you are able to find a fix.
