Size Of DataColumn RRS feed

  • You need to check MaxLength property of it. Basically size is applicable only to strings and BLOBs. For all other types, like Integer etc, size is always predefined.

I want to learn size of datacolumn type . How do I this ?

Data type size is very important it determines if your code will run or fail, in some cases if your code is failing with one data type I know why it is failing because some data types are compatiblity level dependent like Varchar(max) and Varbinary(max) can only run in SQL Server 2005.  In SQL Server you can set precision and scale for Decimal and Numeric.  The link below covers SQL Server data types, ADO.NET data types and FCL(framework class library) data types.  Hope this helps.
