VS2017 authentication error AADSTS50001 The application named was not found in the tenant

    Question

  • Hi,

When I am trying to connect my account to VS2017, I have this error :

AADSTS50001: The application named https://management.core.windows.net/ was not found in the tenant named xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.  This can happen if the application has not been installed by the administrator of the tenant or consented to by any user in the tenant.  You might have sent your authentication request to the wrong tenant.

I a using Visual Studio 2017 Community with Windows 7 x64. I am on a free azure account.

What should I do to fix this ?

  • Hi Dédé,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

To fix this you may try the suggestions below:

1 First you need installed the PowerShellGet:

    http://www.powershellgallery.com/

Then please use the latest Azure RM PowerShell module: Install-Module AzureRM

2 Use the “AzureRmEnvironment” commands to specify the exact environment you want to connect to.

    1. Environments list: Get-AzureRmEnvironment
    2. Add an environment to your local computer environment list: Add-AzureRmAccount -EnvironmentName <new environment name>
    3. Login to an exact environment: Login-AzureRmAccount -EnvironmentName <new environment name>
    4. Connect to a specified environment: Connect-MsolService -AzureEnvironment <new environment name>

You could get more information here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/azureps-cmdlets-docs/

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Fletch
