Call Workflow from Workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody

I'm in a WCF Worflow hosted in IIS.

I would like to run a "sub-workflow" in some cases.

    How can I do ?

I would like to run another "sur-workflow" passing parameters. And the runner (the parent) can consider immediatly that the job is done !

    thanx in advance.

  • Hi,

Can you take the functionalaity out of the child XMALX ans implement it as an activity (XAML file). Both the clild and parent XAMLX files can then use this activity.

    Regards,

    Alan

  • Hi,

A workflow is an activity, so you can add an activity/workflow to the project, and then use that in another activity/workflow.

For asunchronous invocation, you can have the WCF Workflow Service receive a request, then send a response, then run the sub-process after the response has been sent to the client.

    Alan

  • To resume...

I'm using a Workflow XAMLX (the parent) which has to run another Workflow (the child) which is in the same project and which is also a XAMLX.

To do that, presently I reference in my project (where is the parent) a Service Reference to the child (which is in the same project).

I'm not sure to use the good way... I'm not sure that reference the service in my service is good thing... For me, because the XAMLX is in the same project, a solution exists to run the child programmaticaly and easily !! ?

    I'm a little confused. Sorry.
