sharing a url via the mail app changes * to %2a

  • hey

    The url i'm trying to share is

    but after sharing via the windows 8 mail app the link is changed to

    - it converts the '*' to %2a which leads to an incorrect link.

    Sharing works fine via the people app(FB and twitter)

    is there a fix / workaround for this?

  • Hi,

    Looks like the link is URL encoded, so somehow the Mail app thinks it's a reserved URI character (which it isn't).

    I don't know of a (quick) way to fix this. How are you passing the URL to the Mail app? Maybe there's something wrong there...?

    Kind regards

  • hey

    i've registered a handler on Windows.ApplicationModel.DataTransfer.DataTransferManager.getForCurrentView() for the event "datarequested"

    on the handler : shareHandler(e){...}

    i set e.request.data.setUri(new Windows.Foundation.Uri(shareUrl)); //shareUrl is the url i'm trying to share

    What's surprising is that sharing to FB or twitter works fine, seems to be an issue only with the mail app
