Hide ribbon xml controls on a timer event RRS feed

  • Question

  • i have converted an application from ribbon controls to ribbon xml and cannot access globals.ribbons.ribboncontrol...

I need to programmatically hide certain controls on my explorer ribbon and contextmenu ribbon at runtime.

In one instance i have a timer that checks the value of a database result and needs to hide a couple of buttons on my explorer ribbon.

In another instance i need to hide entries on my context menu ribbon based upon information in a mail item as the selected mail item is changed.

In each case I used to be able to get to the ribbon directly from globals.ribbons.ribboncontrol... this is gone. I cannot use the ribbon designer as i'm targeting 2013 and the contextmenu hook is nolonger supported, thus the conversion to ribbonxml.

how can i get hold of the ribbons at runtime and programmatically access it's members to disable/hide individual controls?
