Failing to deploy app to RT surface pro RRS feed

  • Trying to test my app on surface pro, deploying via powershell and getting the following error:

    add-appxpackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80080204, The Appx
    package's manifest is invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80080204)
    error 0xC00CE014: App manifest validation error: The app manifest must be
    valid as per schema: Line 25, Column 8, Reason: Element
    '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/2013/manifest}VisualElements' is
    unexpected according to content model of parent element
    Expecting: {http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/2010/manifest}VisualElements.

    My manifest:

    <Package xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/2010/manifest" xmlns:m2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/2013/manifest">

    Any ideas? Using VS2013.

  • Will try by removing the 2013 schema references: e.g. Square150x150Logo etc.

  • Got it working on Windows 8 by removing 2013 schema references.

    Decided to keep references and upgrade surface pro to 8.1
