Ribbon Creator program RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Has anyone actually used the Ribbon Creator program? I have been testing the
trial version, but, so far have not been able to determine if it will
provide a means to create more than one level of controls in a group. I have
asked for assistance on this from the company that produces the product,
but, they are not willing to provide that support unless I buy the product,
and I don't feel like buying the product if it will not do what I need it to
do. This one question is very important, yet, I am unable to determine if
this can be done in the program, and if so, how.

I would truly appreciate any information on this particular function of the
    program if it is possible.

    Jan :)

    No.

Example, if I have a group on the tab called Options, and when clicked it will open another set of controls to select from.

    Take a Ribbon Menu Control.

If this is possible with the licensed version,

The RibbonCreator cannot more that the MS Ribbon can.
The RC creates only Ribbon XML

What is the problem? Take the Shareware version and test what you want.
The only limitation in the shareware version are two tabs, three
    groups and ten controls.

I understand the limitations of the shareware version, but, my only remaining important question is if the licensed version will allow me to create more than one level of groups on a tab, and if so, how do I create a 2nd or even 3rd group or set of controls that will open from a first level group on the tab? Example, if I have a group on the tab called Options, and when clicked it will open another set of controls to select from. If this is possible with the licensed version, are there instructions to show how this is done? I have watched the video on how to create the initial tab, group and controls, read all the instructions, and created a new test ribbon and so far I have seen nothing that shows how to create more than the one level of groups and controls on a tab. Being able to create sublevel groups and/or controls from a group on the tab is a very necessary step in what I need to do to create the new 2007 Ribbon, and it is important that I know if the software can do this, and how it is done. That is all that I am asking, just if it will do it, and if so, where are the instructions on how to do it so that I can learn how when I buy the licensed version.

Thank you for your time to help.

I have found Gunter's software helpful in learning what the ribbon can and cannot do.  As he said, the program is only as limited as the ribbon interface.

As you work with his program, I recommend reading carefully the XML it outputs.  Often there are nuances that are helpful for you to be able to code manually.

  • Thank you for the additional information, Joe. I will be sure to check the XML the program presents. I am still trying to learn XML so this will be a learning period for me too. There are several software that can create ribbons or assist in doing so, but, Günter's seemed the more efficient when having to start a custom ribbon from scratch. I am not in need of, nor asking asking anything more than what the ribbon can already do, merely how to do it using the Ribbon Creator. Which control will provide what I need to do.  I will see if the Ribbon Menu Control will provide the what I need. The custom menu I am trying to recreate in the Ribbon has already been created in Access 2003, so I should think that it can be done in the Ribbon as well.

Thanks again for your added input, it is very much appreciated.

  • I hope you are having better luck than me. I bought the full version but am getting no help from the company on how to use the software. There is no user manual and when you ask support for help, they only refer you to the online help, which doesn't provide enough information. I've been able to build a ribbon tab but cannot figure out how to modify the XML code, can't even find where it is, have no clue as how to assign macros (their support video  on this doesn't help me at all). Very disappointed. Gunter needs to get his support department to be more supportive.

  • Hi

I first tried the shareware. Worked fine. I had a question about it and had an almost instant reply from Ribbon Creator support team.

Then I bought a license. Had two questions that they also answered by the support team within minutes. I bought Ribbon Creator 2019 and it works with my Access in Office 365 (version 2016).

I am pleased, the WYSIWYG editor make it easy. Thanks!
