Pinned Tabs

    Question

  • Hello,

I have visual studio 2013, on the projects that I'm working on I have many pinned files, so when I open a project all my previous pinned files are being loaded.  Obviously there is a cache file/files of those pinned files/tabs of every project, where I can find this cache file/files so I can backed it up for many reasons.  Also I'm planning to install VS2015 and I'm going to loss all these pins.

    Thanks

    Christos

  • Hi Christos,

    Thanks for your post.

Yes, if you project was created in VS2013 and you have some pinned files in this project. When you load this project in Visual Studio 2013. These pinned files will also be loaded. But if you load this project in VS2015. These pinned files will not be loaded.

This is by design in Visual Studio. I also tested it in my side. The behavior is same to yours. I did a research about this. And i can't find any cache file or setting you can configure to achieve your requirement.

So I am afarid it is not support to load these pinned files which created in VS2013 in VS2015.

In addition, if you feel this behavior is not correct. I suggest you'd better submit as a feature request to the Visual Studio development team:

    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio

The Visual Studio product team is listening to user voice there. You can send your idea there so the others can vote it.
