Error installing Extensibility Toolkit - Reference to Microsoft Visual Studio SDK missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've downloaded the Extensibility toolkit from the link below.

    http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/0dfaa2eb-3951-49e7-ade7-b9343761e1d2

When I attempt to install the Microsoft.LightSwitch.Toolkit.vsix, I get the following error.

Can someone suggest what I might be able to do to resolve this?

    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

Do you have the Visual Studio 2010 SP1 SDK installed? The SP1 version of the SDK is a requirement.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Steve,

I think you've identified the cause of the problem so thanks!

When I try to install SDK SP1, I get a 1603 error. This is the entry that I see when I look in the Windows event log.

Product: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK SP1 -- Error 1304. Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK SP1\VisualStudioIntegration\Common\IDL\Debugger80.idl.  Verify that you have access to that directory.

I modified my NTFS permissions on the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK SP1\ to grant 'everyone' full control permissions. I re-ran the installer but still got the same error.

Do you have any idea as to how I might diagnose or fix this? For example, are there any further error logs that I can look at?

    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

I'm afraid I don't know much about the SDK setup. Perhaps someone in the Visual Studio Extensibility forum can help: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsx/threads
