How to lower the DPI when using remote desktop? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Considering the following setup:

    • Two Windows Mobile 6 handheld from different vendors: HP and Psion teklogix
    • Both handhelds DPI is set at 192, but they use a different resolution.
    • They both connect to a Terminal Service running Windows Server 2008 using Remote Desktop.
    • The DPI of the terminal server is set at 96.

When the handhelds connect to the terminal service, the applications that are run appear twice as small as they should appear due to the DPI ratio. How can I make the application that are run through Remote Desktop appears as if they were in 96 DPI and not in 192 DPI?

We tried changing the DPI on the server for the users that connect through the handhelds, but changing DPI on a server is not a per-user settings and this is not a wanted behaviour since other users also connect to the terminal service and they use the standard DPI of 96.

We found no options to change the DPI settings on both handheld.

Is it possible to change the DPI of the handheld or configure Remote Desktop Mobile to consider the DPI of the terminal service instead of the handheld DPI?

    Thank you
