Oracle Data Providers for ASP.NET SQL Scripts RRS feed

  • I am trying to use Oracle db in VS 2008. I downloaded and installed the ODAC11g files from OTN. After completing the installation I get the message to run the Oracle Data Providers for ASP.NET  SQL Scripts located in c:\app\arc\...

    Can any body help me on how to run the afore-mentioned scripts.

  • You only need to run those scripts if you're actually going to use the ASP.NET providers (role, membership, etc).

    If you just want to use ODP.NET or the Oracle Developer Tools, you dont need to worry about them.

    The easiest way to run them is just to connect via sqlplus and run scripts via the @ sign... for example

       SQL> @D:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\ASP.NET\SQL\InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql

    If you dont have sqlplus on your client machine, just give the scripts in your <ORACLE_HOME>\ASP.NET\SQL directory to your dba and ask them to run it for you.

    Also, since this more of an install question, posting it in the Oracle Forum for ASP.NET Providers may be more appropriate.
