Build for particular SQL Server

    Question

  • Hi,

I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008 but some of the clients we support are still using SQL Server 2005.  When we build in VS, is there any way to limit the build so that it does not contain any features or references to SQL Server 2008.

So, basically, the project built should not contain references to new features introduced in 2008 version.

    Best, Nadim

  • Hi,

can you tell us in detail what you are doing in Visual Studio (e.g. Project type) and which Visual Studio Version you are using?

If you are talking about a SSDT (Sql Server Data Tools) project: Inside the project settings you can set the Target platform. If you set it to SQL Server 2005, then only features available on SQL Server 2005 are available / used.

    With kind regards,
