  • I want to change the connection timeout property in sql-server 2008.

     

     

    Give me the steps

  • As RLF said, you have to be specific about what kind of timeout problems are you experiencing.

     

    If it;s a user query, normally it's down to your client setup, try to increase the CommandExecuteTimeout to higher value,

    if it's login timeout issue due to bad network, then your probably would need increase the ConnectionTimeout.

  • Client Connection Timeout is not a property of SQL Server, but of the connection.

    If your issue is not the original connection, but how long a query will run before timing out, then you can also use the Command Timeout setting.

    Both of these can be set to 0, which means "never timeout".

    In the configuration of the server, you will see a couple of timeout settings, but these are for remote queries to other SQL Servers from a SQL Server.  They will not help with Client Connection or Command Timeout.  These settings are:

    EXEC sys.sp_configure N'remote query timeout (s)', ...
    EXEC sys.sp_configure N'remote login timeout (s)', ...
