Cant get kinect for windows v2 sensor to work RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought the Kinect for Windows v2 sensor,

    I have an i7-2630QM (Quad core 2.0Ghz)

    Windows 8.1 Pro

    8 Gig memory

    USB 3.0

Graphics card Intel HD Graphics 3000

I have installed the 2.0 sdk (1409) on my laptop,

I plug in the Kinect sensor, power block goes from orange light to white light.

I run the connection verifier,  the Kinect sensor does not light up=

It says that the Kinect for Windows v2 sensor detected

It says No Direct X 11 compatible GPU detected. If this is a laptop ensure it is powered as the active GPU can be dependent on power state

It says No depth frames received from Kinect

Is there anything I can do to get it to work, or have I just wasted $200 ?

  • Hi Rick,

Seems  like you need to check the manufacturer for your usb-host controller. Kinect might not get all the power and bandwidth it needs. I had it on my laptop as well. Plus your graphic card and processor could be an issue. Maybe not now, but later for sure - not enough computational power.

Did you check in the device manager if system sees Kinect as properly functioning device?

  • Intel 3000 is not a supported GPU, it does not support Shader level 5.
