simulator bug -- some resolutions give incorrect widths and heights RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Problem with the following simulator resolutions in Win 8 CP:

     10.6" 1920 x 1080
     10.6" 2560 x 1440

    If you create an empty project, and just execute the following javascript code at start:
     document.write('SCREEN RESOLUTION: ' + screen.width + 'px by ' + screen.height + 'px');
    you get the following for the above two resolutions, respectively:

    SCREEN RESOLUTION: 1371px by 771px
    SCREEN RESOLUTION: 1422px by 800px

    Please fix this bug.

  • I'm not an expert in this area, but those values appear to be the scaled pixels for a 140% scale and 180% scale respectively. Because they are scaled up to those resolutions those are the actual available pixels I believe.

  • That appears to be true.

    However I believe this causes a problem for my app that has a FlipView set to be 100% by 100% for width and height (fullscreen), where the simulator behaves weirdly when trying to flip between pages, especially using the touch pointer simulation. The pages flip about halfway and are not aligned properly after the flip, and it allows me to flip left on the very first page and messes up the alignment. This quirky behavior only happens at those 2 resolutions.
