Direct X is the part of the Windows API core set?

    Question

  • Direct X is the part of the Windows API core set?

    i just wonder that...!

MSDN Windows API list has the direct X, but it is not in windows?

but, why the DirectX is in there?

i think that the DirectX API is not a part of the Windows API.

    Is it wrong?

ADDED: I want to know "does Windows API contains DirectX API?

  • Yes. DirectX is part of the Windows API. Why would you think otherwise?

  • Can you explain what you mean?

DirectX is part of the Windows API and many parts of it are available to Windows Store apps.

You can find DirectX documentation in the Windows SDK documentation at DirectX Graphics and Gaming .

  • Thanks a lot...

because, too many books(about windows API) does not contains any codes or descriptions about directX, so i did think that Windows API did not contain DirectX ...

  • Most books target only a subset of the Windows API, not the whole thing. Often they will target only one UI framework, so if they aren't specifically about DirectX they won't include it.
