Field merges reveresed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm preforming a mail merge from a Sql Server DB into a Word (2003) document. The problem is that on some sometimes the field merges in a reversed way. Whats weird is that sometime is does merges ok.

    • The field contains an Email address.
    • Its type in the DB is Varchar.
    • The documents is in Hebrew (RTL).

this is an example for a wrong merge:

this is an example for a proper merge:

The two merges were preformed with the same process, the same document, the same db and the same value.

    How can I resolve this?

    Thank you in advance.

  • The first thing I would do is

     a. click Alt-F9 to reveal the field codes

     b. if the email address field has \*Mergeformat in it, delete it (you may as well do that for all the other merge fields as well).

Mergefield "applies the formatting of the previous result", so if the previous result had mixed LTR and RTL text, you might find that text that should be formatted as LTR is formatted as RTL.
