  • Hi,

    See here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio-help/format-a-shape-HA010357415.aspx#BM5

How to Apply a theme to your shapes in Visio 2010.

    Hope that helps.

  • Do you have your question the wrong way round?

Do you mean how to apply theme colours to your shape? If you want to create your own shapes using themes, this article should get you started. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa445858(office.12).aspx

If you are just talking about using themes, then Jennifer's answer is the way to go.

  • Hi John,

This was helpful.  I also figured out my own answer since posting.

    I have another question, though:

Is there is an easy way to swap shapes in a diagram? In a competing program SmartDraw, you can instantly swap a shape without deleting or having to copy and paste your text.  This seems like a feature that should be in Visio, too.

    Thanks again,

  • This is another of the long term requests for Visio, so unfortunately, it is not a Visio feature. Paul Herber http://www.sandrila.co.uk/visio-utilities/ does provide a utility for swapping shapes.

  • I have the same question and it is not what these answers are giving me. What was the solution?
