How do "shape accent colors" work in Visio 2010?

Question

I can see automatic accent colors in themes, but how do I assign a shape to an accent color?  How do accent colors work?

Do you have your question the wrong way round?

Do you mean how to apply theme colours to your shape? If you want to create your own shapes using themes, this article should get you started. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa445858(office.12).aspx

If you are just talking about using themes, then Jennifer's answer is the way to go.

Hi John,

This was helpful.  I also figured out my own answer since posting.

I have another question, though:

Is there is an easy way to swap shapes in a diagram? In a competing program SmartDraw, you can instantly swap a shape without deleting or having to copy and paste your text.  This seems like a feature that should be in Visio, too.

This is another of the long term requests for Visio, so unfortunately, it is not a Visio feature. Paul Herber http://www.sandrila.co.uk/visio-utilities/ does provide a utility for swapping shapes.
