SkyDrive folder structure: Request for a best-practice RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • With more and more WP7 apps storing their data on SkyDrive both for backup and transfer reasons, and with the announced SkyDrive integration into Windows Explorer I'd like to see a best-practice (or certification requirement) which describes where to store which data.

Still few years ago Windows apps messed up our harddrives by storing their data all over the place: e.g. in \Program Files, in \Programs, in \Documents, ... - all of them both in English and in their local counterparts. I'd hate to see this happening to SkyDrive.

What I'd like to see is something we developers or Microsoft or both can agree on. E.g. a possibility to store application data directly in the application object as opposed to into the visible file system. Or a folder structure like

    me/skydrive/Application Data/{ApplicationId}/Shared | {DeviceId}/whatever.xml

    Opinions?
