where is session identity kept? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

For a long time, it made my mind busy abuout the sessions logic.
I know in asp.net, to keep track of some user choices between pages, session objects can be used, but to overcome this issue, server-side needs a session identity kept in client-side as a unique alphanumerical text. But where is it kept in client-side? I know it is not a simple cookie, or is it?

    Thanks

  • It can be a session cookie, but you can control that with the <sessionState> element in web.config.

  • It uses the <form> tag and posts that back if I'm not mistaken.  You'll have to post this session to forums.asp.net for something better than a guess.  Use this forum only for questions about the CLR.
