  • Question

  • Hi,

i get an unexcepted error from outlook when trying to start my self-written addin.

Story: For nearly 1 year i'm writing an office outlook addin for OL2010 with VS 2010 with VSTO and .NET 4.0 Extended as base. It worked fine for the whole time, but for about one week aprox. since the SP1 for Office it doesn't start anymore. With debug-settings i get this error:

(german, but should be readable for everyone. if i should translate something, just ask for it)

As you see, my addin is not loaded, my debugger doesn't even hit the first line of code.

I also tried to remove all existing things in the registry nd the filesystem, that are in any context to my addin (except of the code-repository).
Also tried to re-install outlook - no sucess :(

    After that i wrote another mini-addin (Timer 5 sec. -> msgBox("Hello World") - didn't load, same exception.

Can anyone help me with that? Did anyone had the same issue? .....
I need a fast solution, because my company wants to go public with that adin (we are in closed beta, and want to release the v1.0 in about 2 weeks)

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Thank you for reporting this issue. During internal testing, QA has recognized this issue either. It is supposed to be written in a KB article.

Suggestion: install Visual Studio 2010SP1 on top of Office 2010 SP1.   link here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23691

People may run into this problem if they: install Office2010 SP1 without .NET40, then Visual Studio 2010 RTM. Please let me know if this hits your problem.

  • After using the system recovery (i think it is named so in the english version of win7) back before Office SP1 it worked, i tried it again with only installing office sp1 as update, and again, it crashed.

    Office SP1 - KB2510690

So i will not be able to install it, until this issue is resolved :(

  • Currently my company is blocking VS2010 SP1, don't know why, but they do know it :)

I'll inform you, after installing VS2010 SP1 (if it will be unblocked in future).
