  • using visual studio 2010 i m not able to connect to sql managment studio2008 R2 databse

  • Make sure you are using correct connection string. You can get connection string from following link

    https://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server/

    Or post code you have done.

  • Have you been able to connect to it before today?

    Are there error messages, timing out etc ?

    Is SQL-Server process started?

    BTW You are not connecting to Management Studio but an instance of SQL-Server.

  • Are you trying to use SSMS, or you trying to use VS to connect to SQL Server?
