  • Question

  • Hi All,

Yesterday i got a client request to upload a news story on the site as well as video, i have tried all the options of running video

from sharepoint but the video is not playing and also no error is coming the webpart/iframe remains blank, but if i add any other videos link beside that it works.  video url: "https://vimeo.com/296354047", which is not working from sharepoint

i have tried the below in SharePoint online:

    1) Embed code

it never works and if i just give a link to the video from the page it's works, even from the browser, i execute the link it is working.

  • Hi All,

The Vimeo video issue has been resolved upon implemented the ‘Microsoft Web Stream’.
Once we add the Microsoft Web Stream to the “Trusted Sites” on the Internet Explorer, the Videos started to streaming without any issues.

    IE-->Settings-->Internet Options-->Security Tab-->Select Trusted Sites-->Click Sites--> Add "https://web.microsoftstream.com"

On Chrome it is working fine.

    Thanks

  • Hi

    Are you sure?

Please try to write a local html file to test first.

  • Hi Roopak,

Per my test, I also cannot display the video link in a SharePoint Online page.

When I use Media webpart, the web part keeps “Open…please wait” message.

When I use Embed code, it return the error “To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame”.

It might be the default behavior from the external domain URL information.

To work around, I recommend you downloading the video and update it to SharePoint site, then insert the video from SharePoint.

    Best regards,

    Grace Wang

  • Hi All,

Thanks for your reply, while googling, i just come to know that,

SharePoint has security control /restriction for “iframes” (function) for different target domain (to prevent XSS /cross site scripting). Thus, for the source of the video, either we use youtube as a target domain, or allow vimeo domain (by add it in “HTML Field Security”).

If that the case then adding the video url to the "HTML Field Security" it should work.

Let's try the above and check whether it works.

    Thanks & Regards
