Charts in reports not working properly after upgrade to VS2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have recently upgraded a Windows Forms project from VS2008 to VS2010.

This includes a number of reports which are displayed using the reportviewer control.

Most of the reports seem to still function correctly, but a couple of them include charts, and the charts are not displaying correctly.

They seem to be just displaying a single point on the chart (XY scatter).

When I open the rdlc file in VS2010 I am asked to upgrade the report to a new format. I have done this, but this makes no difference.

I have looked at the series properties, and the Value field and Category field seem to be set correctly.

In VS2008 in the chart properties I also have a Series group defined. I can't find the equivalent for this in VS2010, so I think the problem may be related to this.

  • I have been able to temporarily work around this problem, by changing the references in my project to version 9 instead of version 10 of the Reporting services components, and using the VS2008 version of the RDLC file. It would still be nice to get this working, so that I can use the new development tools for maintaining these reports though.
