  • Hi Fabio,

    Thanks for posting!

Base on my experience, this tool may need meet Operating System requirement, such as Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 R2 . So I suggest you could get more detail from this article (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40740), and double check your install environment.

If I am misunderstanding or you have new finding, please let me know.

    Thanks

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Will, indeed I read several time the article and nothing seems missing.

I have Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 installed and SQL Server 2008 R2 standard edition.

Do you know if something else must be installed before it ? Any Azure preliminar software ?

I need to test as soon as possible this feature, because I am in a trial of Azure.

    Thanks

    Fabio

  • At a glance, and reviewing our histories, this looks like KB 2876368 (I'm afraid I can't include a link here, since I just created my account - please verify what I say below by going to KB 2876368). Now, I have to be up front with you: I'm a SQL support engineer and was pulled in to this as an Azure case, and some of this is a bit over my head. It looks like the first two workarounds are for the developer side (building the installer package), but that the latter two are in the user's hands:

Workaround 3:  Install the package manually

    The
generated .appv package is still a valid installation package. The
package can be installed by running the following Windows PowerShell
    cmdlets:
    • Add-AppvClientPackage
    • Publish-AppvClientPackage
For more information about these cmdlets, go to the following Microsoft website:
(link removed - please see the original KB)

Workaround 4: Turn off strongname signing for AppVMsiPackageTemplate.dll

    Another
alternative is to trust the assembly and enable the client operating
system to install the package even though AppVMsiPackageTemplate.dll is
not strongname signed. To do this, import the following Windows Registry
Editor Version 5.00 registry keys on the client:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\StrongName\Verification\*,31bf3856ad364e35
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\StrongName\Verification\*,31bf3856ad364e35

Please let me know if this helps.
