File Transfer Manager path limit RRS feed

  • Question

  •  There seems to be an unreasonably short path limit for downloaded files, or perhaps a long file name parsing error.

This path will cause FTM to suspend a requested file:

    E:\Visual Studio 2008\Msdn\Operating Systems

While a shorter path succeeds and the file is queued, i.e.

    E:\Visual Studio 2008\Msdn
    E:\Visual Studio 2008\Msdn\Applications

    [edit]

It appears to be the latter, longer paths that do not contain a right-most segment that is a long file name (that is, contains embedded spaces) will succeed.

  • I don't need assistance, I was able to work around the problem by avoiding paths that have a long file name as the right-most component, but I think it should be addressed.  I supppose I'm just reporting it as an annoyance.

  • Raconturion:

Do you still have a question or problem, or did you figure out what you needed? I am not sure based on the edits to the post above, whether you need assistance.

    Thanks.
