Accessing shared documents in a Project (or subproject), but filtered by project parameters? RRS feed

  • Hello All,

     

    Our organization has multiple simultaneous projects (PWA 2010), organized by Program (Project) and then Project (Subprojects) (EXAMPLE: CRM Program has 4 projects. ERP Program has 3 projects).  While each Project has it's own process documentation, we all share reference materials (EXAMPLE: Glossary, Acronym List, Global Design Overview, reference materials, etc).

    Currently, the reference materials are in global "Shared Documents" and (accordingly) our Project documents are in "Project Documents".  We would like to view ALL the documentation on a single dashboard, but filtered by the appropriate program(s), project(s) and unique metadata tags (i.e. user docs, tech docs, business docs, phase, deadline, etc).

     

    Assuming we already have our metadata tags in place, what is the best practice for combining these libraries into a single view?  --We've experimented with links, but it merely provides a way to access the library, not a filtered view into the library from the dashboard.  We've also experimented with linking filters to libraries, but have gotten stuck on combining the shared docs and the local project docs into one dashboard.

     

    EXAMPLE: A user in CRM Project 1 would like to view all the reference materials (global) and methodology docs (project) that pertain to "phase 2" and/or "technical" documentation, regardless of where it lives.
