Map type always Auto RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am just getting started with Bing Maps and have run into a question/issue.  I am setting the mapTypeId using the following code:

            function GetMap() {

                var map = new Microsoft.Maps.Map(document.getElementById("mapDiv"),
                            { credentials: "My Key Code",
                                mapTypeId: Microsoft.Maps.MapTypeId.Birdseye,
                                center: new Microsoft.Maps.Location(36.85282, -119.80406),
                                zoom: 17
                            });
            }

    When I display the page with the map, it displays just fine except that the map always starts out as "Auto" instead of "Birdseye".  I can switch to Birdseye with the dashboard drop down, but really want the map to initially display as Birdseye.  Guess I must be missing something since it seems really simple, but can't get it to work.

  • Use a small letter for birdseye. It looks like the documentation was just updated recently and this is a new bug in the docs. I have notified our documentation person of the error.

  • That was the issue alright.  Made it a lower case "b" and it works fine.  Thanks for the help!
