Does stopping IIS website will increase performance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have two sharepoint environments one is dev and other one is production. We have about 15 SharePoint web application (IIS app pools) running under production. Also we have created same number of web application in dev environment but we are using only 3 web applications and rest of them are inactive from long time. We are experiencing very poor performance under dev environment and we are planning to stop inactive web applications under Dev environment.

Please suggest is there improvement in performance by stopping IIS websites and what will be the downside?

    Thanks in advance!!!
